On the Path

A fleeting glance upon the way,

Then vanished out of sight,

I see your eyes, do mine reflect

Within their quiet light?

What once was known now feels

So strange, we walk familiar lanes,

Listen close- the past still speaks

In silence and remains.

The path remains, but people change,

And love begins anew,

Even the longing heart can sing

In melodies untrue.

I walked along the road you took-

It felt like destiny,

But like a mirage, dreams dissolved

In painful mystery.

Colors danced with winds of spring,

In laughter, song, and play,

But on this path, those golden days

Have slowly slipped away.

You came along a curving bend,

And I began to part,

Though I lost all along the way,

I found you in my heart.

We met first at the crossing path,

And parted on the street,

Now love rides in a chariot drawn by

Someone else’s feet.

Storms pass by on roads we walk,

Seasons shift their hue,

Let the trees remain as witness-

Silent, still and true.
