Ahona and Nirjhar had been friends since their school days. After entering college, their friendship gradually
turned into love. But because of family opposition, their relationship never reached marriage.
After Ahona passed her HSC examination, her father admitted her to a university in Dhaka. Ahona and Nirjhar
lost contact with each other. Meanwhile, a senior student at the university named Nihar fell in love with Ahona at
first sight. Ahona did not encourage him. Later, after getting a job in a multinational company, Nihar approached
Ahona’s father with a marriage proposal. Ahona’s father liked Nihar very much as a prospective son-in-law.
After their marriage, Ahona and Nihar’s family life initially went very well. When Ahona became pregnant with
their first child, Nihar took great care of her himself. But when she became pregnant for the second time, unrest
began in their marriage. Nihar became involved in an extramarital relationship with a colleague from his office.
When everything was eventually discovered, Ahona left Nihar’s home with her two daughters and returned to her
father’s house.
One day, Ahona unexpectedly met her former lover, Nirjhar. After much persuasion, Nirjhar married Ahona.
Ahona divorced Nihar and began a new life with Nirjhar, taking her two daughters with her.
At first, their married life went well. But when Ahona became pregnant for the third time, a new problem arose.
Nirjhar and his family could no longer tolerate Ahona’s two daughters from her first marriage. When the conflict
reached its peak, Ahona divorced Nirjhar as well.
After her second divorce, people in society began mocking Ahona and pointing fingers at her character. The
sound of a baby’s crying suddenly woke her from sleep.
In reality, the entire episode of marrying Nirjhar for the second time had been a nightmare Ahona had seen while
asleep. After the dream, something restless had stirred inside her. She returned to Nihar’s household with her
children. She returned physically, but she could never forgive Nihar or accept him in her heart again.
After living together for some time, Nihar died of cancer.
Then, no longer in a dream but in reality, Ahona met Nirjhar again. Nirjhar proposed to marry her, promising to
take responsibility for her two children. Ahona refused. Once again, she cut off all communication with Nirjhar
and left the country with her children.
Nirjhar continued to live with Ahona’s memory and never married.
Many years later, Ahona returned to Bangladesh to attend a reunion with old friends. After returning to the
country, she met Nirjhar once again. Nirjhar asked whether they could spend the rest of their lives together now
that Ahona had no one to hold her back.
Ahona replied:
“Perhaps some love is beautiful precisely because it is never fulfilled. Once you have everything, life itself may lose its beauty.”
